What is it?
Help keep our NHS Staff, Paramedics, Care Workers, Firefighters, Police & PCSOs, School Staff and Bus Drivers caffeinated by donating a reduced price hot drink that can be collected later by anyone in one of the key worker roles mentioned.
How it works:
Donate a hot drink to one of the people listed above by adding £2 to your order. We will add a token to our jar which will be visible at the counter so, when someone working in one of the roles above comes in, they can request a donated coffee, tea or hot chocolate from the jar.
If you are a key worker mentioned above, look out for the jar with white tokens on the counter. If there is a token in the jar you can request a key worker free drink.
Just flash us your ID and choose your beverage!*
*Key worker ‘free drink’ is based on a small tea, coffee or hot chocolate
What about other people that have been working all through lockdown such as supermarket workers and posties?
We would love to be able to treat everyone who has had to continue working through lockdown. All the parents and grandparents who have had to balance working from home and childcare, all the call centre staff who have had to carry on answering calls from home, truck drivers having to carry on delivering goods across the country with Brexit frustrations included, vets and vet nurses and receptionists, small business owners with 'essential retail' businesses, and the list goes on.
So many people have contributed to keeping us all functioning the last 12 months, some with high risk to themselves, every role important and deserving of our collective appreciation.
When deciding to start this initiative we knew we would open ourselves up to criticism for not doing enough. We needed to limit the list of who we would give free drinks to so that staff could easily identify recipients and the system could not be taken advantage of. We owe this to those who have spent their money donating drinks.
So while we can't give a free drink to every person who deserves it we can, and encourage you to, say thank you to those working in our supermarkets and shops and delivering our parcels and post and helping us over the phone.
